AHSL 2020 Donation Match Campaign
In the spirit of this year’s theme, NAHSL in Action, the Scholarship committee is holding a donation match campaign to collect funds for three organization: The American Red Cross, Doctors without Borders, and Feeding America. These three organizations were selected since they embody the spirit of taking action to provide aid to those in need.

NAHSL members donated a total of $1,165.00 in contributions over the course of the conference. Unless specified, these donations were pooled into a general fund that was later divided and distributed equally among the three organizations. With NAHSL matching up to $1000 in donations and the wonderful members of the Massachusetts Health Sciences Library Network (MAHSLIN) donating an additional $500, the final grand total collected is $2,665.00! Below is the official breakdown of how our collected funds were donated:

Doctors Without Borders: $1,016.76
Feeding America: $956.76
The American Red Cross: $691.66

To everyone who donated, thank you. This donation campaign would not have had the success it did without your contributions. For more information, please see the NAHSL 2020 Raises $2,665 for The American Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and Feeding America blog post.

NAHSL in Action Call for Scholarship Items: The NAHSL 2020 Scholarship Committee is seeking items for our silent auction for this year’s virtual conference. The funds generated by this year’s silent auction will provide professional development funds for librarians to attend this and other professional library conferences such as MLA 2021.

Where will this silent auction be held?
This year’s silent auction will also be a virtual affair. The auction itself will be held on the digital platform, 32Auctions.

What can I donate to the silent auction?
For this year’s silent auction, we are seeking digital items such as gift cards/certificates which can be easily transferred to the winner without the hassle of shipping and handling. We are asking library organizations, groups, individuals, or an informal consortium of librarians to put together a collective gift card bundle or a membership (or two) that you feel others will appreciate and enjoy! Here are some suggestions for gift cards, by theme:

Coffee Time:
  • Starbucks gift card
  • Dunkin Donuts gift card
  • Bean box gift certificate
Support small businesses:
  • A gift card or gift certificate from a local/regional coffee shop, restaurant or eatery, jeweler/gift shop,
  • pet store/pet boutique, etc.
  • Etsy gift card
For Tea Lovers
  • Harney and Sons gift card
  • DavidsTea gift card
  • The Republic of Tea gift card
For foodies
  • Food52 gift card
  • Penzeys Spices gift card
  • A gift card for a meal prep service like:
    • Blue Apron
    • Purple Carrot
    • Hello Fresh
For pet owners/animal lovers
  • Chewy gift card
  • Petco gift card
  • PetSmart gift card
Movie night
  • iTunes gift card
  • Netflix gift card
  • The Popcorn Factory gift card
Or, make a digital gift card basket. A nice twist on the gift/donation basket concept! Consider grouping together three or four gift cards to create a digital gift card basket.
To donate to the Silent Auction, please contact Jillian Silverberg, at j.silverberg.js@gmail.com. To submit
donations, please use “NAHSL 2020 Item Donation.” in the subject line. In the body of your email, please state what you will be donating and whether you are donating as an individual, a representative of an "ad hoc" group, or are coordinating the donation for your state chapter. Thank you.

Information for Auction Winners
